The Chainsmokers Are Trying To Revive The Mannequin Challenge Single-Handedly

While on tour in South Africa for Ultra this past weekend, The Chainsmokers and their team took a bit of a detour south toward the Cape Peninsula to play with penguins at The Boulders. As it turns out, the penguins are super friendly — and in this case, nearly motionless.

During their time with the penguins, Chainsmokers & company decided to take advantage of the stillness of the birds and bring back the Mannequin Challenge, which peacefully died at home in its sleep in 2016. Apart from one or two birds, it’s actually incredible just how still these penguins were.

We certainly don’t expect the challenge to make a full recovery, but The Chainsmokers make a fair argument for — maybe — a once a year revival.

Alison Wonderland Announces First-Ever Headlining Show at Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Shortly after concluding the Lost My Mind tour alongside Dillon Francis, Alison Wonderland has announced perhaps her biggest milestone yet. The Australian DJ/producer will headline Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado for an event called Temple of Wonderland next fall.

Joining her on the lineup are bass music mainstays Ekali, Medasin and Wuki. The announcement follows Red Rocks being named Best Outdoor Concert Venue in the 30th Annual Pollstar Awards.

“I can’t believe this is happening,” wrote Alison Wonderland (real name Alexandra Sholler) in an Instagram post. “Announcing my first ever headlining show at Red Rocks. Temple of Wonderland. This is a dream come true for me.”

Sholler released her debut album, Run, in 2015 and followed it up with last year’s Awake. In the same amount of time, she’s amassed a diehard international following that has made her a staple of the EDM festival circuit.

Alison Wonderland’s Temple of Wonderland concert will take place at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Thursday, September 12th. Presale tickets are available at RedRocks.co here.

Zedd Announces Headlining Debut at Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Zedd on the Rocks is coming this summer.

Zedd has announced he’ll be taking his talents to Morrison, Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre this summer for a special performance. Zedd on the Rocks marks the “365” producer’s debut headlining set at the iconic open air venue.

Zedd (real name Anton Zaslavski) will be heading to Red Rocks with Hippie Sabotage, Snakehips, and Dwilly along for support. The eclectic lineup reads something more like a small festival than a regular tour stop. Similar to his 2018 Zedd in the Park event, Zaslavski is sparing no expense. He’s promising all-new show production, too.

“It has been a dream of mine to play my own Red Rocks show ever since I saw Incubus’ Alive DVD at this magical venue many, many years ago,” said Zaslavski. “I’m beyond excited to finally announce this show and bring my new production to Red Rocks!”

The Chainsmokers Reveal “World War Joy Tour,” coming to Pepsi Center

Award-winning electropop duo The Chainsmokers are coming to Denver’s Pepsi Center November 19, according to an announcement made Tuesday. The stop is part of the band’s “World War Joy Tour”, which will include Australian pop rock band 5 Seconds of Summer and country-turned-pop singer Lennon Stella.

The Chainsmokers, composed of Alex Pall and Drew Taggart, found fame with the release of their single “#SELFIE” in 2014. Their mark on the pop scene continued to spread with the release of songs such as “Roses,” “Don’t Let me Down,” and “Paris.” They’ve flexed their production skills by pairing with artists like Coldplay, Halsey, and recently paired with 5 Seconds of Summer for the song “Who Do You Love.”

You may not need to be a fan of electronic dance music to appreciate The Chainsmoker’s upcoming date with Denver. Although their music is a product of the times — the sarcastic awareness in the song “#SELFIE.” is no coincidence — the duo has a knack for seeing trends, then transcending them.

Illenium Goes On Sudden Response Spree On Twitter, Fans Flood Him With Questions

Normally if an artist, celebrity, or athlete wants to answer fan questions on the internet, they’ll do a form of AMA: ask me anything. Platforms that support this vary from Reddit, where there’s an actual community for it; Instagram, where there’s a question button built in; or Twitter, where it’s admittedly a bit more messy. Then again, fans can just notice a public figure is answering lots of questions and start flooding the person with more! The latter seems to be the case with Illenium this past weekend.

Fans began pouring their questions to Illenium, who answered quite a good amount, a couple dozen at least. Sometimes, he wasn’t even answering questions at all, just responding to random fans who hadn’t even tagged him!

Surprisingly, neither on the Twitter thread in Cult of Rezz (that I can find) have enthusiasts been imagining support functions yet. Let Me put in my 2 cents:

1788-L is a very clear frontrunner. After encouraging Rezz on her Certain Kind Of Magic tour, and generating enough hype on his own, adding him to a Red Rocks lineup is a no brainer. Blanke is also another probable candidate, having battled with Rezz earlier and flying the US for the very first time. Deathpact would be an intriguing choice — as the producer hasn ’t even played any sets. A Rezz Rocks debut would result in an undeniable impact. Wild cards: Champagne Drip? Liquid Stranger? TOKiMONSTA has been a sudden aid for Rezz in October, so we all ’re never ruling out anybody this time around.

Diana Ross reveals 2019 Red Rocks Amphitheatre show hot off her Grammy performance

Legendary soul singer Diana Ross will return to Red Rocks Amphitheatre on July 22, promoter AEG Presents Rocky Mountains announced this morning.

With about a month to go until her 75th birthday, the former Supremes leader and Motown native is coming off of her “Diamond Diana” celebration at the 61st Grammy Awards over the weekend.

Ross, a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award winner, received a standing ovation upon taking the stage to perform “Reach Out and Touch (Somebody’s Hand)” and “The Best Years of My Life.” Her dapper, 9-year-old grandson also turned heads when he introduced her performance with a short speech celebrating Ross’ career.

Tickets for Ross’ all-ages, summer concert at Red Rocks are on sale at 10 a.m. Feb. 15 through 303tickets.com. They will cost $46-$251 and are available by calling 303-TICKETS or visiting axs.com.

Ross’ current gig is a series of shows at the Wynn’s Encore Theater in Las Vegas, which continue through Feb. 23.

X Games Aspen 2019 Announces Massive Music Lineup

X Games returns to Aspen with major musical performances by The Chainsmokers, Lil Wayne, Kygo, along with Louis The Child

The planet ’s premier winter action sports event returns to Aspen Snowmass for its 18th consecutive year. After 11 Years, Beta Nightclub To Close In 2019

One of Denver’s lit up and volatile nightclubs is set to get its fire extinguished. After 11 years, Beta Nightclub will be shutting its doors on January 5, 2019. For years, the digital dance music (EDM) venue drew massive celebrities, from Deadmau5 into Armin Van Buren, to the tune of lasers, smoke cannons and deafening bass. At one point dubbed one of the top 25 best clubs of all time by Billboard Magazine, in addition to taking the number one spot for dancing clubs in America by Rolling Stone at 2013, the loss of the place doesn’t just alter the dance community, but Denver as a whole. Beta Nightclub was the destination to listen to cutting-edge digital music by the hottest up and comers in addition to the special opportunities to catch the pros in relatively close quarters. Citing the need to take time and recalibrate, Beta has decided to bid farewell.

While not cited in their official parting announcement, one cannot deny that Temple Nightclub, brand new to town, embodied their eyesight “club culture evolving” far better than Beta had in the past couple of years. Coupled with the abundance of similarily EDM-focused clubs lining South Broadway — in one place — that the decline of Beta was only a matter of time. The closing perhaps even caught many at Beta off-guard, as they had several shows lined up into 2019, such as Arty, Luca Lush plus also a rare live performance for its elusive Danger. Likewise, while January 5 has been deemed the official closing date, the last events have not yet been announced.

While there’s no word on what will finally fill Beta’s space, whatever it is, has got a great deal to live up to.
